It is with sadness we report the passing of Huw Tudor
Huw was a member of Clwb Hwylio Pwllheli Sailing Club since the early 1960's and a regular ISORA competitor from 1976 with Gwobr Aur and then Panache.
ISORA racing in the 1970's was in the days before GPS, or even DECA, he would offten tell later generations!
Huw completed several Fastnet Races and was a team member and navigator on Gwilym Evans’s Corwynt Cymru with high profile wins in Cork Week, Round Ireland Races, and the Scottish Series in Loch Fyne.
He was Hon. Secretary of the ISORA Race week in Pwllheli and Abersoch in 1982 with over 120 boats and famous for the massive sunflower (photo in the CHPSC bar).
He took great pride in talking about being able to sail with three generations which was more important than the race wins.
Huw established the successful family Estate Agency business in 1968. Huw was a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and was awarded a lifetime achievement award in 2008 for recognition in the surveying profession. Huw was an appointed member of the Committee for Wales of the National Trust, a nominated member of the Snowdonia National Park Authority for several years, and a member of the property committee of the Council for World Mission. He also contributed as a Valuer Member of the Rent Assessment Committee for Wales.
He took an active role in the community being the founder Chairman of the Pwllheli Round Table, President of Pwllheli Rotary Club, Chairman of the Llyn and Pwllheli Harbour Users Association and Chairman of Porth Pwllheli, a focus group and driving force behind the establishment of the Marina at Pwllheli. Huw was a Magistrate in the Courts of North Wales for many years until his retirement.
Huw was most proud of the fact that he was an Elder in The Presbyterian Church of Wales and a secretary of the Presbytery property committee for a period of over 40 years.

Huw had great pride and fondness in his family, business, sailing and religion.
The funeral is at Capel y Drindod Pwllheli at 1300hrs Wednesday 22nd March, then at Denio Cemetery and all then welcomed to a funeral tea at Plas Heli / The Club.

We have a great race schedule for 2023 that combines with many top class regattas. Details can be found on the Musto ISORA website.
The series starts with the Viking Marine Coastal Races in Ireland and the Global Display Coastal Race in Wales, both on 15th April, followed by another two coastal weekend of racing.
The first Offshore challenge is a race from Dun Laoghaire to Pwllheli on 6th May, in time for the IRC Welsh National Championships 12th to 14th May . There is then a return race fdrom Pwllheli to Dun Laoghaire on 20th May.
We have again this year teamed up with other races in the Irish Sea and arranged the racing so that deliveries are minimised. This includes the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race and the Liverpool and RDYC Lyver Trophy Race.
The Royal Dee Yacht Club, in conjunction with ISORA are running the RDYC Irish Sea Offshore Championship again this year as part of the VDLR.
While good and challenging racing is a must for offshore and coastal races, the social side of ISORA is equally important. It is the social side of the races that binds the fleet together and allow crew to share experiences. Whenever possible, a social reception will be arranged either the night before or after each race. Courses will be selected that, where possible, will allow all boats taking part in any race to be able to partake in any post-race reception.
With the increasing exposure in the media of offshore racing, we are getting many requests from potential crew to take part in ISORA. It is important that we encourage as many people to take part and to have as many crew available for any race. Lack of crew is the most common cause of boats not taking part in a race.
Although ISORA is totally voluntary and all entry fees go towards prizes, additional funds are now needed to run the ISORA YB trackers and promote the important social side of ISORA. While many of our sponsors from last year are continuing to sponsor ISORA, we need new sponsors for 2023. If you would be interested in sponsoring an ISORA race, please contact me.
We are grateful for Viking Marine who are sponsor for the Irish Coastal Series and Plas Heli who is the sponsor of the Welsh /UK coastal Series. The full list of sponsors for 2023 will be published before the first race.

2025 Class bands are anticipated as follows:
Class 0 = 1.070 or greater
Class 1 = 1.010 to 1.069
Class 2 = 1.009 or less
2025 bands will be published before the first Race.
